摘要： A reading apparatus including: a first conveyance path in which a sheet is conveyed; a second conveyance path different from the first conveyance path, the second conveyance path allowing the sheet switched back after having passed through the first conveyance path to be conveyed therein; a reading unit configured to read the sheet, the reading unit being movable to a first position where a first surface of the sheet in the first conveyance path is read, a second position where a second surface as a back surface of the first surface of the sheet in the second conveyance path is read, and a third position different from the first position and the second position; and a reference portion that the reading unit reads for correcting information read by the reading unit, the reference portion being read by the reading unit moved to the third position.

摘要： This invention provides a technique of preventing a collision between an original document and a printing material on a conveyance path which is partially shared for conveyance of them in an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus of one aspect of this invention, which includes a printing unit configured to convey a printing material via at least part of a conveyance path used for original document reading processing, and execute printing processing of an image on the printing material, executes if the original document reading processing is not being executed when the printing processing of the image on the printing material is instructed, the printing processing without waiting for completion of the reading processing, and executes, if the original document reading processing is being executed, the printing processing upon completion of the reading processing.

摘要： A compact duplex scanner for scanning both sides of an original document scans a document smoothly without paper jams. A platen roller 8 is located opposite an image sensor 7 for scanning a paper 15 held therebetween as it is transported through a paper feed path 2b. The image sensor 7 and platen roller 8 are mounted on a rotary frame 90 designed to move circularly as a single unit around a rotary shaft positioned transversely to the paper feed path 2b. After the paper 15 is carried in a forward direction P and the front 15a of the paper 15 is scanned, the rotary frame 90 rotates 180 degrees, and the paper 15 is carried in a reverse direction to scan the back 15b.

An image processing apparatus rotates an image reading unit including a sensor in units of predetermined angles to read a white reference member, acquires luminance information about the white reference member at the respective predetermined angles of rotation, determines an angle at which the luminance information is greater than other pieces of the luminance information among a plurality of pieces of the acquired luminance information at the respective predetermined angles, and rotates the image reading unit based on the determined angle to correct a reference position of the image reading unit.

摘要： A duplex scanning device includes a casing, a transporting mechanism, a scanning unit and a scanning unit rotating mechanism. The transporting mechanism transports a sheet along a transporting passageway, which includes a front passageway, a middle passageway and a rear passageway. The scanning unit rotatably mounted on the casing scans the sheet in the middle passageway. The transporting mechanism transports the sheet from the front passageway to the rear passageway through the middle passageway so that the scanning unit scans a front side of the sheet. Then, the scanning unit rotating mechanism rotates the scanning unit by substantially 180 degrees. Next, the transporting mechanism transports the sheet from the rear passageway to the front passageway through the middle passageway so that the scanning unit scans a back side of the sheet.
