摘要： In a general aspect, a method for authenticating a plurality of slave devices connected to a master device can include: generating and sending by the master device a respective challenge to each slave device; in each slave device, generating a response to the respective challenge and transmitting it to the master device; verifying by the master device the response of one of the slave devices; returning by the master device the remaining responses to respective slave devices distinct from those that generated the responses; and verifying by each slave device the response returned thereto by the master device and transmitting the result of the verification to the master device.

摘要： A control device includes an apparatus controller that is connected to at least one apparatus and includes a first memory which stores data for controlling the driving of the apparatus and data indicating a state of the apparatus and a reading and transmitting unit which reads each data item stored in the first memory and transmits the read data, a main controller that includes a central processing unit, a second memory, and a writing unit which writes the data transmitted from the apparatus controller to the second memory, and a full-duplex serial bus that connects the main controller and the apparatus controller. The reading and transmitting unit and the writing unit operate such that each data item stored in the first memory is read, transmitted, and stored in the second memory in a cycle equal to or less than a count cycle of a system timer.

摘要： An image reading apparatus in which a session timeout does not take place in a case where user's confirmation is obtained before image data obtained by reading originals is transmitted. Before transmission of image data, a control unit determines whether a protocol having a time out is selected. If the selected protocol has a timeout, the control unit determines whether a memory is in a memory full state each time image data of one page is stored into the memory. If the memory is in a memory full state, the user is requested to confirm as to whether transmission is to be performed. If the necessity of transmission is confirmed by the user, the control unit establishes a session with a destination and transmits image data of pages stored in the memory to the destination.

摘要： A modular camera and printer is disclosed. A camera module is provided having an image sensor for capturing an image in a RGB format. The camera module also has a central processing unit with program memory for storing program steps for execution by the central processing unit to operate the camera module, and an image storage memory for storing the captured image in the RGB format. An image processing unit of the camera module is in communication with the image storage memory and transforms image data in the image storage memory into a L*a*b* format. The camera module also has a serial bus for outputting transformed image data in the L*a*b* format. A printer module is provided also having a serial bus in communication with the serial bus of the camera module. The printer module receives the image data from the camera module in the L*a*b* format, converts the image data to a color space of the printer module, and then prints the image data on a printhead.

摘要： A multi-module device having first and second modules is disclosed. The first and second modules communicate through a serial bus. The first module has a memory for storing image data in a RGB format and a processing unit for converting the image data from the RGB format to a L*a*b* format, before outputting image data in the L*a*b* format through the serial bus. The second module receives the image data in the L*a*b* format, converts the image data to a CMY format and prints the image data in the CMY format.
