    • The present invention is an improved multi-point door latch. The door latch is for mounting in a stile of a door and for latching to a corresponding keeper mounted in a corresponding door jamb. The multi-point door latch includes a housing containing first and second gears, each gear being rotatably mounted to the housing, the gears intermeshing to rotate in opposite directions between first and second positions. One of the gears is mountable to a door lock lever to rotate in response to movement of the door lock lever. The door latch also includes a first and second hook pivotally mounted to the housing, each hook being movable between a latching position for engaging the keeper and a non-latching position. The door latch also includes an actuator coupling the first and second hooks to the first and second gears, respectively. The actuator permits the hooks to move between their latching and non-latching positions in response to the rotation of the gears between their first and second positions, respectively.

    • A latch assembly for a door includes a housing composed of a base and a cover. A drive knob, two links, two hooks, two adjusting members, and two torsion springs are connected between the base and the cover. The drive knob includes a drive surface that is engaged with a straight inside portion of a through hole of the links. One of the two links is pivotably connected to an adjusting portion of the other link and retaining slot of one of the two hooks. The other link has a positioning portion that is pivotably connected to the retaining slot of the other hook. When the drive knob is rotated in a particular direction (typically counterclockwise), the two links are pivoted in opposite directions and the two hooks are pivoted in two opposite directions and extend through apertures in the first outer surface of the base to hook a keeper structure and secure the door.

The motion translating linkage is interconnected to the actuating member and adapted for corresponding movement when the actuator is moved. A first bias member interconnects the translating linkage to the housing, whereby the bias member retains the actuator and the translating linkage in a first position absent user force directed to the actuator.

    • A multi-point latch assembly having a locking unit operably positioned in a closure member such as a door or window. The latch unit has a pair of latches with slots formed therein permitting the latches to simultaneously slide and pivotally engage a stationary pin. A keeper unit is operably positioned in a stationary member such as a door jam in a wall or a window sash. The keeper unit has a pair of pivotally movable hooks for selectively engaging the pair of latches in the latch unit. The latch unit has an actuator unit located internal to the latch unit for causing the hooks and latches to engage one another. The closure member is prevented from moving relative to the stationary member without first disengaging the hooks and latches from one another. The multi-point latch assembly has a stop rod located in the keeper unit. A release button located on the latch unit engages the stop rod when the closure member is closed. The latch unit is incapable of actuating the hooks and latches until the release button contacts the stop rod when the closure member is in a closed position relative to the stationary member.
