    • A glass substrate for use as the substrate of an information recording medium such as a magnetic disk, magneto-optical disk, DVD, or MD or of an optical communication device, and a glass composition for making such a glass substrate, contains the following glass ingredients: 45 to 75% by weight of SiO2; 1 to 20% by weight of Al2O3; 0 to 8% by weight, zero inclusive, of B2O3; SiO2+Al2O3+B2O3 accounting for 60 to 90% by weight; a total of 0 to 20% by weight, zero inclusive, of R2O compounds, where R=Li, Na, and K; and a total of 0 to 15% by weight, zero inclusive, of TiO2+ZrO2+LnxOy, where LnxOy represents at least one compound selected from the group consisting of lanthanoid metal oxides, Y2O3, Nb2O5, and Ta2O5.

    • In an example of the present invention, an optical recording medium includes the first substrate on a light beam incident surface side, the second substrate on an opposite side to the light beam incident surface side, the first recording layer which is arranged between the first and second substrates, the first reflecting layer which is arranged between the first recording layer and the second substrate, an adhesive layer which is arranged between the first reflecting layer and the second substrate, the second recording layer which is directly arranged on the adhesive layer, and the second reflecting layer which is arranged between the second recording layer and the second substrate, wherein the adhesive layer is made of an ultraviolet curing resin having a glass transition temperature of 80 to 160° C.

    • The optical disc of the present invention includes a first translucent substrate having generally planar opposed top and bottom surfaces. The bottom surface is smooth and adapted to an optical beam for accessing data on the disc. The top surface of the first substrate has formed pits that represent data recorded on the disc or alternatively has a photo-reactive chemical formed thereon. A reflective coating is formed on the top data surface or photo-reactive chemical surface of said first substrate to enable the top surface to reflect light back to an optical reader. A bonding agent is disposed over the reflective coating and a second substrate is bonded to the first substrate though hot melt bonding or UV bonding. The second translucent substrate has a top surface incorporating a plurality of lenticules formed therein, and a bottom surface having an interlaced segmented lenticular image printed thereon. The method of the present invention provides that the top substrate incorporating lenticular imagery is hot melt bonded or UV bonded through use of a bonding agent to a bottom substrate bearing recorded data and a metalized layer for reflecting optical beams.
