    • PURPOSE:To improve transient response during running at a low temperature and fuel consumption during heating-up operation, by a method wherein injection classified by a cylinder group is effected by an injection-timing-by-cylinder-group computing means during heating-up operation and simultaneous injection by a simultaneous injection timing computing means during operation at a low temperature. CONSTITUTION:By means of a signal from an operating state detecting means (d), a heating-up operating state deciding means (f) decides whether an engine (a) is in a heating-up operating state. When the engine is decided to be in a heating-up operating state, an injection-timing-by-cylinder-group computing means (g) computes a timing, at which fuel injection is effected at each cylinder group, when all cylinders within each cylinder group are in a stroke except a suction stroke, and fuel injection is carried out at each cylinder group by a fuel injecting means (b). Meanwhile, when the engine is decided to be not in a heating-up condition, a timing at which all the cylinders conduct simultaneous injection is computed by a simultaneous injection timing computing means (h). This enables improvement of transient response and drivability during running at a low temperature and improvement of fuel consumption and exhaust gas during heating-up operation.
