摘要： In a vacuum chamber (1), an emitter (3) and a target (7) are opposed to each other. A guard electrode (5) is disposed around an outer circumference of an electron generating portion (31) of the emitter (3). A supporting part (4) supports the emitter (3) movably in an end-to-end direction of the vacuum chamber (1). Reforming treatment is performed on the guard electrode (5) by operating the supporting part (4), moving the emitter (3) to an open end (21) side (non-discharge position) and applying a voltage to repeatedly effect discharge on the guard electrode (5) in a state where field emission from the electron generation portion (31) is suppressed. After the reforming treatment, the supporting part (4) is again operated. The emitter (3) is moved to an open end (22) side (discharge position) and placed in a state where field emission from the electron generation portion (31) is allowed.

摘要： An x-ray source for use in Phase Contrast Imaging is disclosed. In particular, the x-ray source includes a cathode array of individually controlled field-emission electron guns. The field emission guns include very small diameter tips capable of producing a narrow beam of electrons. Beams emitted from the cathode array are accelerated through an acceleration cavity and are directed to a transmission type anode, impinging on the anode to create a small spot size, typically less than five micrometers. The individually controllable electron guns can be selectively activated in patterns, which can be advantageously used in Phase Contrast Imaging.

摘要： An imaging module includes a plurality of cathodes and respective gates, each cathode configured to generate a separate beam of electrons directed across a vacuum chamber and each gate matched to at least one respective cathode to enable and disable each separate beam of electrons from being directed across the vacuum chamber. A target anode is fixed within the vacuum chamber and arranged to receive the separate beam of electrons from each of the plurality of cathodes and, therefrom, generate a beam of x-rays. A deflection system is arranged between the plurality of cathodes and the target anode to generate a variable magnetic field to control a path followed by each of the separate beams of electrons to the target anode.

摘要： A radiation generating apparatus includes: an envelope 1 having a first window 2 through which a radiation is transmitted; and a radiation tube 10 being held within the envelope 1, and having a second window 15 which is arranged in opposition to the first window 2, and through which the radiation is transmitted; and a radiation shielding member 16 thermally connected to the second window 15, having a radiation transmitting hole 21 arranged in communication with the second window 15, and having a protruding portion protruding from the second window 15 toward the first window 2. A thermally conductive member 17 having a higher thermal conductivity rather than that of the radiation shielding member 16 is connected to the protruding portion of the radiation shielding member 16. The radiation generating apparatus can shield an unnecessary radiation and cool a target with a simple structure and is entirely reduced in weight.

摘要： Systems and methods for replacing coolant of an x-ray tube assembly having a closed cooling system include a service port that is operatively installed in the cooling system and a vacuum assisted service kit that is operatively coupled to the service port. Used coolant is drained from the x-ray tube assembly, and thereafter a vacuum is drawn on the x-ray tube assembly via the service kit. Replacement coolant within a vacuum tank of the service kit is degassed under a vacuum. The degassed replacement coolant is provided into the cooling system from the vacuum tank, preferably by pushing under pressure with an inert gas to prevent the introduction of any air into the replacement coolant. The replacement coolant may be pressurized in the cooling system with the inert gas. Thereafter, the service port is closed, and the service kit may be disconnected from the service port.

摘要： In a radiation generating apparatus of the invention, a radiation tube having a cathode for emitting an electron and an anode for generating a radiation by an irradiation of the electron emitted from the cathode is enclosed in a housing container filled with an insulating liquid. The apparatus has a mechanism in which a voltage for allowing the insulating liquid to flow can be applied between the cathode and the anode in a state where the cathode does not emit any electron. Even when the generation of the radiation is stopped, the insulating liquid can be efficiently sufficiently cooled without providing mechanical stirring means, and a high reliability is obtained even for intermittent use.

The front part (3) has a second metallic material whose heat conductivity is larger than that of the first metallic material.
