    • A system and method of performing “on-the-fly” zooming (i.e., while the video display is in-motion) having infinite value scaling is provided to give the user the ability to zoom-up by any amount while viewing. The variable “on-the-fly” zooming function is performed by a user employing a user interface device, such as a mouse, to select a window of random size in a display screen which is playing an in-motion video display. The information obtained by the user interface device is converted into scaling information and base address information and are stored into temporary registers. On the next video synchronization signal, the scaling and base address information are loaded into registers used to perform scaling on the pixel data retrieved from the frame buffer area in the video system. The new base address ensures that the pixel data is retrieved so that only the data within the window is scaled. The retrieved video data is then scaled using the new scaling information.

    • An improved transducer amplifier includes a first operational amplifier having low drift of its input offset voltage characteristic and having a first output of a transducer connected to its positive input and a second output of the transducer connected by means of an input resistor to its negative input. The gain of the first operational amplifier is set by a feedback resistor. A second operational amplifier having low current drain is connected as a voltage follower with its input connected to the first transducer output. A differential signal produced between the voltage follower output and the output of the first operational amplifier is applied to a conventional differential to single ended converter circuit with precisely matched input and feedback resistors to eliminate the common mode voltage component of the differential signal and to reference an amplified error signal component of the differential signal to ground. The improved transducer amplifier provides the same common mode rejection and lower input offset voltage drift with lower total current drain and lower cost than conventional instrumentation amplifiers.

    • A paper towel dispenser with disinfecting contact surface is an apparatus designed to reduce the transmission of communicable disease from indirect physical contact routes of transmission by providing a disinfecting surface that is most frequently engaged by users. The present invention accomplishes through the use of an upright paper towel dispenser that incorporates an absorbent pad in fluid communication with a reservoir containing an antimicrobial solution. The paper towel dispenser with disinfecting contact surface is additionally able to adjust to variety of paper towel sizes through the incorporation of a height adjustment mechanism. The present invention comprises a stationary base, a pedestal assembly, a reservoir assembly, a retaining plate assembly, and a platform assembly. The reservoir would be filled with an antimicrobial solution capable of eliminating germs upon contact. The platform assembly would provide a non-interfering elevated shelf for storing a plurality of secondary items.

    • An improved magnetostrictive wire based position transducer that has applications in both liquid level measuring systems and in position indicating systems. A cylindrically structured and circularly polarized piezoelectric element directly measures the torsional acoustic waves in the magnetostrictive wire as they are received by the sensor. The cylindrical structure of the sensor eliminates many of the inadvertently detected acoustic and electrical pulses within the wire that are not indicative of the passage of the torsional wave of concern. The present system provides an improved sensor configuration which is selectively sensitive to torsional waves while being insensitive to vibrations in alternate planes. This improved piezoelectric sensor in combination with the electrical configuration allows placement of the magnetostrictive wire apart from the liquid whose level is being measured or from the indicator whose position is of concern. The system provides a means for transmitting the liquid level within a container to a sensor column outside of the container in a manner that improves access, maintenance, calibration, and installation. In the preferred embodiment, each of the above improvements is provided in a system that incorporates an instrumentation loop powered microprocessor based transmitter with low current requirements and increased sensitivity.
