    • A reconstituted leather product and a method of manufacturing this reconstituted leather product is disclosed in which leather (preferably scrap leather) is ground or shredded into a fibrous state. The fibrous leather is mixed with a binder, such as natural rubber dissolved in an evaporatable solvent (e.g., naphtha), so as to form a paste-like mix. The mix is then extruded (or otherwise formed) into sheets or webs and is cured so as to drive off excess solvent. A reinforcing mesh web may be adhered to the back face of the sheet or may be sandwiched between layers of the fibrous leather and binder. The cured reconstituted leather may be finished to have any desired surface finish or color in a manner similar to real leather. The resulting reconstituted leather closely resembles real leather in feel, color, finish, odor, strength, flexibility, and appearance, but is of much lower cost.

    • Process for manufacturing of molded objects by hot-pressing lignocellulose-containing materials with polyisocyanates as binders while using an agent to release the molded article from the surface of the metal press used. A mixture of the organosilicon compounds is applied onto the surface of the cauls or molds which faces the material to be pressed, and cured at a temperature from 100.degree. to 200.degree. C., preferably in the presence of known curing catalysts. The mixture of organosilicon compounds comprising(a) 20 to 65 weight percent of a silicone resin of the general formula ##EQU1## in which R.sup.1 is a low molecular weight alkyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms,a has a value of 1 to 1.7,b has a value of 0.3 to 1.0;(b) 30 to 65 weight percent of an .alpha.,.omega.-methylsiloxanediol with an average molecular weight of 1,000 to 20,000;(c) 5 to 15 weight percent of a silicate ester of the general formula ##EQU2## in which R.sup.2 is a low molecular weight hydrocarbon radical with 2 to 4 carbon atoms,c has a value of 2.1 to 4.0;wherein the sum of components (a), (b) and (c) amounts to 100. The release properties can be further improved if more closely defined polysiloxane block copolymers are used as internal release agents.

    • The mold described herein comprises an upper and a lower portion in which the upper portion comprises an inverted cavity flash land mold section and the lower portion comprises a readily removable steel plate. By having the cavity flash land mold portion inverted and in the upper portion of the mold, the molded product is more easily separable by gravity from this upper mold portion which avoids the necessity to use means for lifting the molded product from the cavity and thereby avoids the distortions and stresses previously caused in the product by such lifting means. To aid in separating the product from the inverted cavity upper portion as the upper portion is separated from the lower flat sheet portion of the mold, releasing means, such as air from poppet valves in the upper area of the cavity mold, may be used to facilitate separation of the product from the upper cavity portion and deposition of this product on the lower flat sheet portion of the mold. This permits removal of the product while still retained on and supported by the lower flat sheet portion of the mold. This prevents out-of-place deformations and stresses in the molded product. This mold design is particularly suitable for the molding of very thin flat plates of considerable length and width.
