    • Provided is an active bolster for a vehicle occupant, the active bolster comprising a rear panel, an internal structure, and a front panel. The internal structure is disposed between the rear panel and the front panel, and the internal structure and rear panel together forming a hollow chamber in communication with an inflation device. The hollow chamber is expandable on activation of the inflation device. The internal structure has at least one expandable element such that upon pressurization of the hollow chamber by the inflation device, at least a portion of the at least one expandable element undergoes deformation to permit inflation of the hollow chamber, thereby displacing the rear panel rearwardly to an extended position.

    • The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polyamide fiber from which a fabric appropriate for use in airbags is obtainable, and which exhibits weave-loosening prevention properties after weaving thereof, and excellent mechanical properties. This polyamide fiber is characterized by having; a total fiber density of 100-700 dtex; a tensile strength of 8.0-11.5 cN/dtex; a boiling-water shrinkage of 4.0-11.0%; a slack recovery rate (A) represented by formula (1) after a fixed-length heat treatment of 0-4.0%; and a tightening index (F) represented by formula (2) of 3.8 or higher. A=[(Ta−Tb)/Ta]×100 (1) (In formula (1), Ta represents the amount of slack immediately after heat treatment, and Tb represents the amount of slack at the time of stabilization after heat treatment.)     • By forming a resin sheet or a metal sheet, an angular-box-shaped bag main body (51) having gore portions (54) on surrounding side faces to ensure its height is formed. A folded line (55) to be folded, in a manner to form a valley line, toward an inside of the box-shaped bag main body (51) is formed in an intermediate portion of each of the gore portions (54) in a height direction. A triangular overlaid and folded portion (56) is formed in an end of each of the gore portions (54a) on each of the surrounding side faces with each corner portion of the angular-box-shaped bag main body (51) being sandwiched between one surrounding side face and another surrounding side face adjacent to the one surrounding side face in which the gore portion (54b) is folded in an overlaid manner in the overlaid and folded portion (56) at a same time when another gore portion on another surrounding side face is folded. By configuring above, an inflator bag (50) for a vehicle occupant restraining apparatus is obtained. Thus, the inflator bag (50) is able to be housed in a compact manner and to be developed so as to be in a stable state with a sufficient developing stroke being ensured and able to be processed easily.
