    • According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes: a magnetic recording medium provided with data regions for data recording; a light output module which outputs an optical signal to be applied to a recording position where recording data is recorded of the data regions; a write head which records the recoding data at the recording position magnetically; a light quantity setting module which sets a light quantity value of the optical signal output from the light output module; a heat-assisted recording controller which performs a control so that the recording data is recorded by the write head at the recording position which is heat-assisted by applying an optical signal with the set light quantity value; and a controller which adjusts the light quantity value of the optical signal set by the light quantity setting module using the recording position being a part of the data regions.

    • A calibration circuit and a calibration method thereof for data recovery are provided. The calibration circuit includes an amplitude detector, a period detector, and a compensation circuit. The amplitude detector samples amplitudes of a data signal according to a zero-crossing signal and outputs an amplitude signal accordingly. The period detector counts a clock signal according to the zero-crossing signal and outputs a period signal accordingly. The compensation circuit receives the amplitude signal, the period signal, and the data signal. The compensation circuit adjusts a phase of the data signal by calculating differences between a reference signal and the amplitude signal and between the reference signal and the period signal and outputs a calibrated data signal accordingly. Accordingly, a better recognition performance on the data signal is achieved by calibrating the data signal in real-time.

    • In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises two or more slave channels, wherein each one of the slave channels comprises a non-adaptive filter operable to filter an input signal to the slave channel using filter coefficients received from a master channel; and the master channel coupled to each one of the slave channels, wherein the master channel comprises an adaptive filter operable to: for each one of one or more of the slave channels, determine the filter coefficients for the slave channel using the input signal to the slave channel; and send the filter coefficients to the slave channel.
