    • An image reading apparatus to prevent reading quality from deteriorating when two reading units respectively read a first side and a second side of a document with different capabilities, and a method of controlling the same includes an automatic document feeder to feed a document, a first reading unit to read a first side of the document fed by the automatic document feeder, and a second reading unit to read a second side of the document fed by the automatic document feeder. A control unit to control an operation of the image reading apparatus determines at least one of the first reading unit and the second reading unit as a reference reading unit in a both-side reading mode in which both sides of the document are read and controls a transport speed of the document such that the document is transported at a speed to allow the reference reading unit to read the document.

    • The image reading apparatus conveys a reading unit or a document to read the document. Conveyance is implemented by motor control based on a target position trajectory. The reading unit reads the document each time a line start signal is inputted. When a predetermined condition is satisfied, the reading operation is invalidated. A conveyance position at a timing to start the first reading operation invalidated is specified as an interrupted position. The object is arranged at a conveyance restart position moved back from the interrupted position. A target position trajectory is newly set. A conveyance time from the conveyance restart position to the interrupted position defined by the target position trajectory is an integral multiple of an output cycle of the line start signal. The motor control based on the target position trajectory is started at a timing coinciding with an output timing of the line start signal.

    • A scanning controller, a scanning apparatus and a method for performing the scanning controller are disclosed herein. The scanning controller includes an image data processing unit, a memory control unit, a dummy line control unit, a buffer condition control unit, a motor condition control unit, a motor controlling unit and a relation control unit. Based on at least one of several predetermined contrastive relationships among each stored data amount with regard to an image buffer and its corresponding motor move timing, the relation control unit controls generation of a motor move timing from the motor controlling unit to drive a motor with variance of a scanned data generation rate and simultaneously enable determination of the dummy line control unit on which part of scanned image data should be skipped by catching of the image data processing unit.
