摘要： A recording medium recorded by a data structure adapted to link and reproduce audio data and video data, a method of recording/reproducing using the data structure and an apparatus for recording/reproducing using the data structure. On the recording medium, first data and second data, which are different from each other in type and formed of a plurality of data units, are recorded. A first data unit descriptor table and a second data unit descriptor table, in which information on the first data units and the second data units are respectively recorded as data unit descriptors, are recorded. A first program descriptor table and a second program descriptor table, in which information on one or more data units forming respective programs is stored in the program descriptor of the corresponding program in the form of information on respective data unit descriptors, are recorded. Thus, information on the first data units which are to be reproduced after being linked to the second data units is included in the program descriptor of the second program descriptor table. By doing so, using independent data structures for respective independent applications, generation of a new application linking two independent data structures is enabled.

The data recording and reproducing apparatus records AV data inputted from an input port on HDDs by using a recorder and reproducer, and outputs data reproduced from HDDs by the recorder and reproducer through an output port. In an editor inputted is data inputted from outside and data reproduced by the recorder and reproducer. The editor performs edits on at least either of the data above by using a matrix switcher and an audio mixer provided therein. A special effector is utilized as necessary. The editor can output data obtained through editing processing to a switch.

A video data file and a speech data file, obtained on dividing the video data and the speech data into respective plural records and recording the resulting records by the above data storage devices, are managed by a CPU using a file entry stored in a RAM or a file management information storage unit, a video data record entry and a speech data record entry.

During a recording operation, an error correction code(s) is added to the overlying data, the underlying data located in the area wherein the overlying data is to be recorded may be erased, and the overlying data for the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof is recorded. During reproduction, the reproduced error correction codes and data of the unit of the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof are utilized to obtain the overlying data of the first and last tracks which are not recorded. Such arrangement may prevent the erroneous reproduction of the underlying and overlying data at the boundaries of the underlying and overlying data.

摘要： An information recording medium and a reproducing device therefor which can realize varied reproduction from data recorded with plural channels and improve the operability. TOC information is recorded at a start point of a disk, and in succession thereto plural kinds of information are recorded on a plurality tracks. Video data, audio data and superimpose data each having plural channels are time-division multiplexed and recorded on each track. A default value relating to a synthesis method for the plural channels is recorded as one of the TOC information or at a header portion of each block of the video data, the audio data and the superimpose data. In another aspect, data in each of plural channels recorded in the disk is supplied through decoders to a synthesizers. A default corresponding to a predetermined channel is stored in a nonvolatile memory, and the default channel is automatically selected by the synthesizer.
