    • A controlled flow drain having an upper flange coupled to a lower flange. The upper flange defines an inlet cavity and the lower flange defines a swirl chamber. The inlet cavity and swirl chamber are in fluid communication via a swirl nozzle defined within a swirl nozzle plate that separates the inlet cavity from the swirl chamber. After separating debris within the drain fluid, the drain fluid is accelerated through the swirl nozzle and discharged into the swirl chamber, and more debris is thereby separated and eventually settles into an annular groove. The drain fluid may then exit the lower flange via an exit control passage. The swirl chamber may be flushed with a series of flushing liquid injection ports symmetrically-arrayed about the annular groove. Flushing the swirl chamber removes fluidized debris and also remove any built up fouling present on the swirl nozzle and exit control passage.

    • A removable drain filter apparatus (20) with an housing (22) connectable with upstream and downstream drain pipes (40, 46) has a filtering chamber wider than the drain pipes and divided into an upstream portion (78) and a downstream portion (82) by a generally planer filter element (50). A hatch cover (32) carries a downwardly extending central core (76) with an O-ring seal (84), a filter securement member (86) for pressing the filter element (50) against an underlying support ledge (29) and a drain hole plug (88). The location of the O-ring (84) relative to the filter element (50) and the plug (88) being tapered enables the filter housing (22) to be drained of any water during removal of the hatch cover and before the watertight seal is broken to eliminate leakage of drain water out of the housing (22) when the hatch (31) is completely opened. The filter (50) bends out of the way of a plumber's auger (96).

    • A reservoir 10 is provided for mounting to a bottom of a fuel tank of a vehicle. The reservoir includes wall structure 13 coupled with a bottom to define an interior space 17. The bottom has an internal surface 27 within the interior space, an external surface 15, and an opening 12 in the bottom. A check valve 11 is associated with the opening. Valve protection structure 16 extends from the external surface and is provided continuously about the entire perimeter of the bottom to define a plurality of tortuous paths P for fuel flow from the tank to the opening. Feet structure 26 extend from the external surface to contact the bottom of the tank. A plurality of pockets 30 are provided in the internal surface 27 of the bottom for collecting foreign particles that may enter the reservoir.
