In one embodiment, said process confers fire-retardant properties to the wood products sufficient to pass the extended burn test of ASTM E-84. In certain embodiments, the PHA is a multiphase copolymer blend having one phase a fully amorphous phase with a glass transition temperature of below 20° C. and is between about 5 to about 45% of the total PHA. Methods of making the compositions of the invention are also described. The invention also includes articles, films and laminates comprising the compositions.
