    • A communications device includes a wireless communications interface, a power line carrier (PLC) communications interface, and processing circuitry coupled to the wireless communications interface and to the PLC communications interface. The processing circuitry, in combination with at least one of the wireless communications interface and the PLC communications interface is operable to send a request for wireless communications interface operational parameters via the PLC communications interface, receive a response via the PLC communications interface, the response including wireless communications interface operational parameters corresponding to a wireless network, and configure wireless communications interface based upon response. In another operation, the processing circuitry is operable to listen for transmissions of at least one Wireless Access Point (WAP) of the wireless network. When transmissions of the at least one the WAP of the wireless network meets a sufficiency threshold, receive data service via the wireless communications interface and when the transmissions of the at least one the WAP of the wireless network fail to meet the sufficiency threshold, receive data service via the PLC communications interface.

    • An ion mobility spectrometer is described having an ion filter in the form of at least one ion channel having a plurality of electrodes. A time-varying electric potential applied to the conductive layers allows the filler to selectively admit ion species. The electric potential has a drive and a transverse component, and in preferred embodiments each of the electrodes is involved in generating a component of both the drive and transverse fields. The device may be used without a drift gas flow. Microfabrication techniques are described for producing microscale spectrometers, as are various uses of the spectrometer.

    • EZ-Mark Picture Hanging Marker consists of a head that has an adhesive coating on one side and a marking device, like a pin or marker on the other side. On the other side of the marking device is an encasement sleeve that protrudes further than the marker. The adhesive coating of the head is attached to the back of a picture frame or other object that needs hanging. Once the adhesive coating or other attachment mechanism is put in place, the frame may be moved along the wall into the desired location of hanging. The EZ-Hang Picture Hanging Marker user is then able to mark the desired location of where they would like to place their nail by pressing on the picture frame or hanging instrument. Only when significant force is applied to the picture frame, does a marking device protrude from EZ-Hang's encasement sleeve and mark the wall.

    • The present invention relates to a three dimensional preconcentrator and inlet heater. The preconcentrator consists of a substrate with passageways, a conductive material coated to the top and the bottom of the substrate and an adsorbent coating covering the entire substrate. This substrate is suspended in a holding frame by a connecting bridge. The preconcentrator may also include a resistor and a proportional-integral-differential controller. The device may be used inline with a detector and can be retrofitted to existing devices. An array of preconcentrators may also be formed. The invention also relates to methods of use of the preconcentrator and methods of manufacture. A method of use includes contacting an analyte and a preconcentrator, allowing the analyte to adsorb to the preconcentrator and then desorbing the analyte. A method of manufacture involves applying the adsorbent coating by misted chemical deposition.
