    • A method of forming ribs on a revolving shell in generally parallel circumferentially extending relationship. Each rib is built over a strip form having a cross section that is an isoceles trapezoid that is positioned with the base or wide parallel side against the shell, and the narrow parallel side forming the crown. A strip of glass fiber mat wetted with resin is carried by a band of individually tensioned strands which are attached to the revolving shell, and are wrapped therearound by the revolving shell. The band of strands is divided into three groups, the center of which is positioned over the crown and the outside groups of which are positioned over the inclined surfaces of the strip form. As the revolving shell pulls the individually tensioned strands over the rib, the outside groups pull the mat strip against the inclined sides of the rib form, and thereafter slide down the inclined surfaces of the mat to smooth out wrinkles. Finally the outside groups come to rest over the portions of the shell on opposite sides of the rib form to anchor to mat firmly in engagement with the shell and in tight engagement with the rib form. The materials are preferably fed to the underside of the revolving shell so that the strands may also carry the mat and the rib form to the surface of the revolving shell.

    • Method and apparatus for depositing material on surfaces of revolution. The preferred embodiment deposits glass fibers and curable resin onto molds shaped to form the heads of storage tanks. The spray means for depositing the resin and fibers is supported on an arm which is pivoted about an axis which passes through the center of curvature for the surface of revolution. The spray means is moved over the surface of the mold at a speed which is generally proportional to its distance from the axis of revolution to give a generally uniform thickness of deposited material. Preferably, the arm on which the spray means is supported is in turn pivotally supported from a second arm. The arms may be rotated in unison, or the inner arm used to swing the joint between the arms over a center of curvature for a portion of a mold and the outer arm rotated about the joint for depositing material on a portion of the mold.

    • A suspension system for flanged ceiling tiles and a method of supporting ceiling tiles are provided. Heretofore, flanged ceiling tiles have been affixed to furring strips and the like by stapling the flanges thereto. However, there has been no satisfactory means of suspending tiles of this type below an overhead ceiling structure. In accordance with the invention, an elongate supporting member for such tiles is designed to either suspend the tiles below an overhead ceiling structure or support them directly on an overhead ceiling structure. The supporting member includes an elongate channel having spaced, horizontallyextending flanges along one side thereof, the length of these flanges being less than the length of the tile flanges, with the spacing between the channel flanges preferably exceeding the length of the tile flanges. The supporting members are positioned relative to the ceiling structure so that the horizontallyextending flanges are directly opposite one another to support flanges of tiles extending between the members. These first supported tiles in turn, then support other tiles extending between the first ones.
