    • A host computer which generates a print job subjected to printing by a printer stores a drawing command output from an application in a spool file via a graphic engine. A spool system, the graphic engine, and a job chasing function processing unit execute a chasing data generation process by using the drawing command. The spool system, the graphic engine, and a graphics control unit execute a print data generation process by using the same drawing command. At this time, the drawing command is read out and output so as to successively execute the chasing data generation process and print data generation process. With this configuration, there are provided a method of protecting leakage of information by which the contents of information can be reliably chased without requiring either a special application or a device having a special function and posing any restriction on the read or output path, and an information processing apparatus and driver program which implement the method.

    • The accuracy of reading a barcode embedded in a printed document is maintained, and at the same time, the amount of toner and the like consumed is reduced. When document information read by scanning is analyzed and the density of the document information is higher than a predetermined threshold vale, that is, when the printed document has a space enough to contain the barcode, the density of the barcode is set such that the density of the barcode is decreased as compared with a case where the density of the document information is lower than the predetermined threshold value. By changing the size of dots and the distance between the dots and thus decreasing the density of the barcode, it is possible to reduce the amount of toner and the like consumed. Then, the set barcode is synthesized with the document information, and the synthesized image is output.

    • The present invention is directed to improve efficiency of a filter processing on an image. A filter processing module includes a filter circuit and a control circuit. The filter circuit includes: a first register capable of storing data; a first arithmetic logic unit capable of executing a first filter processing on the basis of output data of the first register; a second register capable of storing a result of the arithmetic operation of the first arithmetic logic unit; and a second arithmetic logic unit capable of executing a second filter processing on the basis of output data of the second register. The control circuit adjusts the number of pieces of data which is input per cycle in the first register in accordance with the number of taps in the first filter processing, size of an execution result of the first filter processing, and the number of second arithmetic logic units, thereby promptly completing the first filter processing.

    • A processor connected to an external bus in a conventional configuration made it possible to access its internal registers and local memory through the external bus and to read or update their contents. This created potential security threats including confidential data such as cryptographic keys being stolen and a newly developed piece of software being copied. In a conventional media processor connected to an external bus all access requests from a device connected on the external bus are honored. Security threats are reduced by providing a TLB in the bus interface unit of the media processor whose contents can be updated only from inside the media processor. The TLB checks whether the address specified by an external access request falls within the access-permitted areas registered in it. If it does, the access request from outside is passed on to the inside of the media processor; otherwise, it is rejected.
