    • An injection valve assembly includes a valve body having a central longitudinal axis and a cavity with fluid inlet and outlet portions, a valve needle axially movable in the cavity to control a fluid flow through the fluid outlet portion. The valve needle includes a radially extending retainer element. An electro-magnetic actuator unit including an armature axially movable in the cavity and designed to actuate the valve needle via the retainer element, and a pole piece fixedly coupled to the valve body and including an inner recess, the retainer element being at least partially arranged in the inner recess. The pole piece includes a stop element extending radially into the inner recess of the pole piece. The stop element has a stop surface facing the fluid outlet portion and the retainer element. The stop surface of the stop element limits the axial movement of the retainer element.

    • A common rail fuel injector includes a control valve member unattached to, but trapped between, a push pin and a seat of an injector body. The push pin has a head that includes a contact surface and a crown that includes a stop surface. An air gap surface of an armature is located between a top of the head and the stop surface of the crown when the contact surface of the push pin is in contact with the armature. The stop surface of the crown is located between an air gap plane of a stator assembly and the air gap surface of the armature. The push pin, the armature and the control valve member are movable among a rest configuration, an injection configuration, and an over travel configuration.

    • In one aspect, a fuel injector includes an injector body that defines a fuel inlet, a drain outlet and a nozzle outlet. A direct operated check valve is positioned in the injector body and includes a needle valve member with an opening hydraulic surface exposed to fluid pressure in a nozzle supply passage, and a closing hydraulic surface exposed to fluid pressure in a needle control chamber. The needle valve member is movable between a first position at which the nozzle supply passage is blocked to the nozzle outlet, and a second position at which the nozzle supply passage is open to the nozzle outlet. A needle control valve is positioned in the injector body and includes a control valve member movable between a first position at which the needle control chamber is fluidly connected to the drain outlet, and a second position at which the needle control chamber is fluidly blocked to the drain outlet. A solenoid actuator is positioned in the injector body and includes a stator assembly and an armature assembly coupled to the control valve member. One of the stator assembly and the armature assembly includes a non-magnetic insert that moves into and out of contact with another of the stator assembly and the armature assembly at an energized position and a de-energized position, respectively.
