摘要： A circuit breaker apparatus is provided and includes a trip mechanism which is coupled to an electrical circuit and which is configured to interrupt an operation of the electrical circuit when the trip mechanism is actuated, an electronic trip unit in signal communication with and configured to actuate the trip mechanism when pre-selected conditions are satisfied, and a rating plug coupled to the electronic trip unit and configured to operate in a first mode in response to a receipt of a transmitted control signal at the rating plug, and to otherwise operate in a second mode, the first and second modes being respectively associated with first and second ones of the pre-selected conditions to be correspondingly transmitted to the electronic trip unit by which the electronic trip unit determines whether to actuate the trip mechanism.

摘要： A microprocessor-based circuit breaker includes a removable chip that defines the current rating or ground fault current for the breaker. The breaker includes mechanical components that trip to disconnect the load terminal from the line input. The mechanical components include a floating breaker arm, trigger and tripper lever that cooperate to control the tripping of the breaker. A spring between the breaker arm and trigger, together with cam surfaces defined in the breaker switch cooperate to form a floating linkage to control the position of the breaker arm during on/off activation and current fault conditions. The circuit breaker also includes multiple indicia to provide a visual indication of the type of fault condition sensed by the breaker.

摘要： A trip unit includes a housing, a rotary plunger mounted in the housing and a pivotal trip bar also mounted therein. The trip bar latches the plunger in an on position, releases the plunger to a tripped position and re-latches the plunger. A set of springs biases the plunger to the tripped position. A rotary trip lever is pivotally mounted in the housing. A trip solenoid includes a linear plunger, which resets the solenoid when retracted, and which engages and rotates the trip lever when extended, in order to rotate the trip bar and release the rotary plunger. The rotary plunger engages the rotary trip lever when reset and rotates the same in an opposite direction, in order to retract the linear plunger and reset the solenoid. During that reset operation, the rotary plunger also cams the trip bar, in order to re-latch the rotary plunger in the on position.

摘要： A circuit breaker having a switch rated current setting on an electronic tripping unit is described. This is suitable for all circuit breakers having an electronic tripping unit that can be removed from the circuit breaker housing after removing a seal and can be lockably parameterized at the rated current of the circuit breaker. In parameterization of electronic tripping units of circuit breakers, the possibility of unauthorized parties tampering with the tripping unit must be prevented. Therefore, the tripping unit is equipped with a monitoring circuit which prevents the possibility of parameterization of the tripping unit when there is a galvanic connection between the trip magnet and the tripping unit. This permits parameterization only when the tripping unit has been removed, i.e., only by authorized personnel.
