    • A cylindrical lockset comprises a multiple-compartment lock cage subassembly. A retractor is housed within a middle lock cage compartment. Spindle return torsion springs, for biasing corresponding handle-carrying spindles to their default positions, are housed within axially adjacent lock cage compartments. A torque plate transfers torque from the lock cage subassembly to relatively radially distal trim posts. A knob catch assembly seated in each handle-carrying spindle comprises a generally elliptically-shaped wrap around catch spring and a knob catch backup washer to resist axial loads produced by efforts to pull a handle off of the spindle. A key spindle provides a dog travel window defined by a closed, continuous edge of the key spindle, which window is positioned opposite of an axially-extending seam of the key spindle.

    • Provided is a temporary secure storage system for firearms. The system is designed to provide convenient, secure storage of handguns. A number of storage containers employing electronic locking mechanisms are stored within a secure facility. Customers can rent a storage container for a predetermined period of time, during which firearms and accoutrement are kept within an individually locked container. Biometric scanners, card readers, and PIN keypads are examples of the types of authenticators used on each storage container to ensure that only the owner gains access to the contents. The system is ideally suited for persons who lawfully carry concealed weapons and seek to abide by local ordinances regarding gun-free areas. In this manner the system provides convenience and peace of mind to gun-carrying persons.

    • A latch apparatus for providing secure storage to an enclosure is disclosed. The latch apparatus can include an actuating device that operates to lock or unlock the latch apparatus in response to a control signal. The control signal can be communicated to the latch apparatus through an RF or other transmitted signal or through hardwires connecting the latch apparatus to the remote device. The latch apparatus can be maintained in either a locked state or an unlocked state without having to continuously supply power to the latch apparatus. The latch apparatus can include a latch hook that can be detent biased to both the open position and the closed position while the latch apparatus is in either a locked state or an unlocked state. The latch hook can move from the open position to the closed position while the latch apparatus is in a locked state. The latch apparatus can also have a thickness such that the latch apparatus will fit in the gap in which drawer slide hardware for an enclosure is installed.

    • A device and method for controlling an electric lock control the electric lock by generating a password signal carrying an ID information from an electronic apparatus including a communication chip. The device includes an antenna unit, a communication unit, a processing module, and a memory unit. The processing module receives the password signal from the electronic apparatus via the communication unit and the antenna unit. The processing module controls a locked status of the electric lock based on the password signal. The ID information carried by the password signal is analyzed by the processing module and sent to the memory unit and stored therein to form a reference information. Once the processing module receives the password signal again, the processing module will determine whether to maintain or change the locked status of the electric lock based on a result of comparison of the password signal and the reference information.
