    • The present invention provides a broadcasting system which includes a broadcasting unit for broadcasting program information, a reception unit for receiving the program information broadcast by the broadcasting unit, a reproduction section for reproducing a picture from the program information received by the reception unit, a first display unit for displaying the picture reproduced by the reproduction section, an event acquisition section for acquiring regarding the picture displayed on the first display unit, a terminal information holding section for holding terminal information, a server selecting section for acquiring destination information of a broadcasting station server based on the terminal information, a server access section for transmitting an ID of the event acquired by the event acquiring section and the terminal information held in the terminal information holding section to the broadcasting station server through a two-way communication line based on the destination information acquired by the server selecting section, a broadcasting station server for acquiring information data corresponding to the ID of the event and the terminal information both transmitted by the server access section and for transmitting the acquired information data through the two-way communication line based on the terminal information, a server access section for receiving the information data, and a second display unit for displaying the information data received by the server access section on at least part of the picture.

    • A monitoring apparatus for the use status of a car radio is disclosed. In addition to the function of identifying a radio station to which the car radio is tuned at any given time, the present apparatus is capable of identifying the individual actually in the driver's seat listening to that radio station, and of measuring the idle time during which the car radio could have been turned ON but actually was not. Also, the present apparatus has a rechargeable battery dedicated thereto, thereby to avoid overloading the vehicle-mounted storage battery used also for engine starter. Moreover, the present apparatus comprises a device for generating an excessive discharge alarm signal when the excessively discharged state of the rechargeable battery is detected. Furthermore, the present apparatus employs the radio station identification based on the detection of local oscillation frequency picked up at the tuner portion, which is in one to one correspondence with a radio station broadcast frequency.

    • Two additional structures for addition to the Digital Video Broadcasters (DVB) Service Information (SI) for implementation of the MPEG-2 Systems Standard (ISO/IEC 13818-1 are provided: the Logical Channel Table (LCT) and the Composite Channel Table (CCT). The LCT provides the mapping between a Logical Channel Number (LCN) representing a service and the transport stream/program number on which the service can be found. LCT entries may designate either simple conventional channels or Composite Channels. The LCT contains a Composite Channel Indicator (CCI), which when set to `1`, indicates that the selected channel is a composite channel. In this case, the LCT entry gives the home channel of the Composite Channel, which provides the CCT to the decoder so that the tuner can be retuned to the actual program designated in the CCT for current viewing. Each entry in the CCT associates a Composite Channel Number (CCN) with a LCN and represents the "present" definition for the composite channel. A simple LCN is used as a key to the LCT to determine the transport stream ID and program number for the service components in the usual way. As time progresses, the entry for a specific CCN will change; therefore, the CCN is used as a "pointer" to the LCN which is the currently active service for the composite channel. These tables work with conventional MPEG-2 service definitions to decode multi-service transport streams.
