摘要： Synthetic detergents of the ampholytic betaine type are provided, having a 2-hydroxy propylene ether group attached to the nitrogen atom of the betaine; the 2-hydroxy propylene ether group optionally can include a plurality of oxyalkylene units. The process for preparing these betaines easily and inexpensively involves reaction of an alcohol or hydroxy compound with epichlorohydrin to form the corresponding chloroglyceryl ether, which can be aminated and quaternized either in two stages, by reaction of a dialkyl amine and a straight or branched halogenated carboxylic acid, or in one stage by reaction of an amino acid. Detergent compositions containing these betaines are also provided.

摘要： A laundering process and novel laundering composition used to impart temporary soil release properties to textile fabrics by impregnating the fabrics with an acrylic resin in the final step of a laundering operation, usually in the sour operation. The fabrics are then dried leaving a residue of the resin on the fabrics which helps remove after acquired stains. The resin impregnation can be combined with fabric finishing treatments such as blueing, sizing, brightening and softening. The process is repeated with each subsequent laundering of the fabrics to obtain optimum soil release and stain removal. The laundering compositions comprise water, acrylic resin, and laundry sour or other fabric finishing agent.

摘要： A device for producing and dispensing foam including a deformable reservoir adapted to contain a quantity of foamable liquid and air, a discharge cap releasably secured to the reservoir and defining a discharge orifice in communicating relation with the interior of the reservoir, foam producing means supported within the reservoir in communicating relation with the foamable liquid, and a foam homogenizing overlay disposed for controlling the foam discharged. Selective air passage means are provided in a wall portion of the foam producing means defining a mixing chamber such that compression of the reservoir effects the introduction of foamable liquid and air into the mixing chamber wherein they are intermixed to produce foam which is thereafter discharged through the discharge orifice. Selected embodiments employ a ball check valve between the reservoir and the discharge orifice to maintain the liquid upwardly within the foam producing means, and air valve means to assist air return into the reservoir.

摘要： The invention is a device and means for applying a thickened cleaning composition to a selected surface area that minimizes or eliminates any unintentional or excess application of the composition and/or minimizes or eliminates any spreading or wicking of the composition beyond the selected surface area after application. The current invention is a dispensing device featuring the combination of a thickened cleaning composition having a specified rheology and dispensing means with one or more orifices of preferred cross-sectional area that enable convenient application of a cleaning composition to the selected region of a soft or hard surface. Additionally, the dispensing device features cleaning compositions having preferred wicking rates with respect to the treated surfaces so that only the selected stained or soiled region of the surface is effectively treated, as the cleaning compositions will not spread or wick into adjacent regions of the surface where damage may occur.

摘要： A carrier fluid foam, which enhances the functional performance of liquids containing one or more functional active agents such as cleaners, lubricants, agricultural chemicals, household chemicals, industrial chemicals, institutional chemicals, medicinal chemicals, cosmetic chemicals and pharmaceutical chemicals, contains a solution of the functional active agent and a surfactant and has a particular combination of foam syneresis value, foam horizontal thickness half-life, and vertical wall clingability, and compared to liquids containing the same active agents, provides superior performance, normally without scrubbing. The carrier fluid foam is produced by vigorous agitation of the solution containing the active agent and a surfactant in the presence of a gas, or by injection of a pressurized propellant into an aerosol dispenser containing such solution and then passing the solution/propellant mix through a mechanical break-up actuator in the valve assembly of the aerosol dispenser.
