    • While a user is viewing in a first display area a portion of an electronic document intended to be printed to produce a printed product, presenting to the user in a second display area a representation of the physical outline of the printed product and an indicator that indicates to the user the size and location of the electronic document portion relative to the printed product. When the user positions a cursor in the second display area, a second indicator image, visually distinctive from the first indicator image, is displayed. The user can position the second indicator at a desired location relative to the representation and request that the portion of the electronic document at that second indicator location be displayed in the first display area.

    • An improved method of cleansing a filter bed is herein provided utilizing a backwash pump (12) having an inlet line (14) and an outlet line (16). The improved method and system includes two cycle operations. Initially, the filter bed is backwashed to remove contaminants from the filter bed with the backwash pump (12) drawing liquid from an effluent channel (26). A portion of the liquid passing on backwash pump outlet line (26) is passed through a bypass adjustment valve (34) for egress on an outlet line (38) for recirculation to the effluent channel (26). The second stage of the cleansing operation is through a purging cycle where the filter bed is purged subsequent to the backwashing operation for removal of further contaminants from the filter bed. In the purging cycle, a closed loop system is formed between the backwash pump (12) and the backwash shoe (28) with a portion of liquid being diverted through a purge adjustment valve member (44) for egress on an outlet line (46) external to the system or to a separate filter member.

    • A bridge structure includes a light-weight, corrosion-resistant, readily installed bridge deck formed of modular deck panels spliced to each other on site. The deck panels are preferably shop-fabricated by longitudinal welding of adjacently placed multi-void elongate structural elements. Longitudinally adjacent elongate elements are spliced by providing internally disposed shear elements prior to longitudinal welding of adjacent spliced elongate elements, with the end joints between spliced elongate elements being arrayed in a staggered manner. A safety rail system is mounted to run alongside and above outer edges of the finished bridge deck mounted to a system of support girders. In one aspect of the invention, the bridge deck is very securely mounted to a support girder by flowing an initially fluid uncured medium into the voids of a structural element and, via holes formed into a bottom of that structural element, contiguously into a space defined by a bottom surface of the deck and a top surface of the girder. In this aspect, studs are welded to the top surface of the girder and extend through the holes into the voids, so that when the medium is cured-in-place it serves to bond the structural element to the girder. The cured medium inside the void facilitates transfer of shear and bending-related forces to the girder.
