摘要： An intercom system provides audio communication between multiple users wearing head-mounted devices (HMDs). In an embodiment, the intercom system determines a first location of a first HMD of a first user. The intercom system determines a second location of a second HMD of a second user. The intercom system receives audio of the first user from a microphone of the first HMD. The intercom system determines a volume level of the audio at the second location using at least the first location and the second location. The intercom system transmits the audio to the second HMD responsive to determining that the volume level is less than a threshold volume. The intercom system may also selectively transmit audio based on gaze direction of a user. Additionally, the intercom system may generate a transcript of audio input by users.

摘要： A communication system for coupling telephony or other signals to a broadband network such as a CATV network. The system transmits a multiplex of telephony signals in the forward band of the broadband network, with individual signals directed to an addressed subscriber. Telephony signals returning from subscribers upstream to a headend unit (HIU) are modulated onto the reverse band of the broadband network in a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) arrangement. The upstream modulated telephony signals are received at a telephony network interface at the HIU coupled to the broadband network. A group of reverse band modulated telephony signals are received at a group receiver or channelizer. The group receiver processes all upstream telephony signals within a selected spectral subband in the reverse band to apply a receiver matched filter with a weighted overlap and add circuit, and are then converted to baseband by an FFT circuit. The group receiver provides a serial data stream representing the baseband telephony signals. The baseband telephony signals are processed to derive demodulated telephony signals. The demodulated telephony signals are coupled to the telephony network.

摘要： A method and system is provided for conducting secure power line carrier communications in full duplex over the power lines of a building. Power line carrier current telephone extension systems utilize 1) a single BASE unit per central office line (for interfacing line carrier signals with the central office line) and 2) one or more EXTENSION units, one for each extension phone set (for interfacing said line carrier signals with said extension phone sets). The method employs system control logic for providing A) multiple extension arbitration logic, B) privacy from eavesdropping and C) security from third party central office line capture by means of a digital messaging system in each base and extension unit utilizing a unique and matching security key (preamble) with each message instructing the system to change operating states, such as, A) during a conversation an extension unit may be put on hold so that a second matching extension can pick up the line, B) a base unit rings matching extension units to signal an incoming call or C) an outgoing call is initiated by a user taking a matching extension phone off hook to access the central office line. Matching of the random security codes may be initiated by the user. By this means unauthorized access to the central office line (especially for long distance calls) and eavesdropping by other users in the same building with similar line carrier telephone extension products is prohibited.

摘要： The invention is a telephone system capable of operating on a single internal telephone line as commonly found in the home or small businesses, which is economically implemented within an integrated circuit chip to provide a one chip telephone and which provides most of the components necessary for a full-featured, reliable and easy to install office communication system. The multiband audio network (MAN) transfers four audio bands and a digital data band over a single twisted pair of wire. A 6,000 bits per second full duplex digital data channel is also provided on the same twisted pair. Each station unit includes all the control and interface support necessary to perform conventional telephone functions. These functions include a combination of keyboard and display support circuitry such as strobe and debounce circuitry, LED buffers, piezo ring drivers, control registers and communication hardware. Everything needed to provide a programmably customized communication and telephone network is available using only one basic chip design in the system as described above. Not only are standard telephone communications possible on a single twisted pair, but a network of telephone receivers, computers, modems, telefax devices, answering machines and any other type of information handling or communication device now known or later devised for use on a telephone line can be networked and accommodated within the system.

摘要： Disclosed are call processing methods which are performed by a network terminator located at a subscriber's premise. The network terminator is coupled to a digital network and a communication device at the subscriber's premise and can perform call waiting, caller identification, call conferencing without intervention from a telco's switching system that requires an additional charge to the subscriber for these services. In addition, the network terminator can perform a method which allows two digital communication devices coupled to one S-bus to share a communication session. In another embodiment, up to a six way conference call can be established with an analog telephone coupled to an ISDN network via the network terminator of the present invention.
