Such a barrier includes first through fifth segments, where the first segment includes a first and second side section and a bottom section that are coupled to each other so as to form a generally U shaped structure. The second segment is coupled to the first side section so it extends outwardly at an angle from the first side section. The third segment is coupled to the second side section so as to extend outwardly and at an angle from the second side section. The fourth segment is coupled to the second segment so as to extend outwardly from and at an angle with respect to the second segment. The fifth segment is coupled to the third segment so as to extend outwardly from and at an angle with respect to the third segment. Such a configuration of the fourth and fifth segments is such that gas flowing along a surface of the second or third segments is redirected at an angle with respect to that surface.

    • A gas-insulated high-voltage switch for the interruption of large currents includes a housing, a contact arrangement which is arranged in the housing and has two switching pieces which can be moved relative to one another along an axis. Each switching piece has a rated current contact and an arcing contact. The switch includes a drive which acts on a first of the two switching pieces. The switch includes a device configured to detect and indicate the contact wear of the two arcing contacts caused by the action of the arc. The device has an indicator arranged outside the housing. In the switch, the remaining life which is determined by the contact wear of the arcing contacts is detected and indicated by a simple mechanical mechanism. The device has a transmission mechanism which is fed through the housing in a gas-tight manner and a drive member coupled to the operating element.

    • A limited flash-over electric power switch uses a dielectric gas regulator and a flash-over arrestor to greatly diminish the occurrences of high voltage flash-over during operation of a circuit interrupter. The dielectric gas regulator prevents the flow of the dielectric gas into the arc gap during an initial portion of the opening stroke of the interrupter contacts. Once the arc gap is sufficiently wide to greatly diminish the likelihood of a high voltage flash-over, the dielectric gas regulator allows the dielectric gas to flow into the arc gap to extinguish the arc. The flash-over arrestor snubs out incipient flash-over that may occur as the arc attempts to reform across the arc gap. The flash-over arrestor may be a conductive ring located on the interior surface of the nozzle in the region of the orifice.

The stationary member body portion is formed cylindrical so that a gap between the body portion of the stationary member and the gas flow blocking member is minimized.
