The redispersible latex component comprises a blend of (a) a six-membered carbocyclic compound having two carboxyl substituents and which is soluble in aqueous alkaline media such as the disodium salt of 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalic acid and (b) an aqueous colloidal dispersion of a film-forming carboxyl-containing polymer such as a copolymer of styrene, butadiene and acrylic acid.

摘要： Mixtures of (1) a quaternary ammonium salt(s) and (2) 1,4diazabicyclo(2.2.2)octane are novel catalysts in the process of reacting an alkali metal phenate, pyridinate or pyrimidinate with an 0,0-dialkyl phosphorochloridothioate or 0-alkyl phenylphosphonochloridothioate to produce the corresponding phosphorothioates and phenylphosphonothioates. The process is conducted under alkaline conditions in a liquid reaction medium. As an example, 0,0-diethyl O-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl)phosphorothioate is prepared in excellent yields and purity by reacting sodium 3,5,6-trichloropyridinate with 0,0-diethyl phosphorochloridothioate in a stirred methylene chloride-water reaction medium in the presence of a catalytic amount of benzyltriethylammonium chloride and 1,4diazabicyclo(2.2.2)octane.

摘要： Lumber and other wood products are impregnated with one or more additives such as preservatives, fire retardants, dyes, and the like, using a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent as the sole heat transfer medium and carrier by heating the wood with hot solvent vapor, soaking the hot wood in a pressurized solvent solution of the additive, and releasing the pressure after removing the solvent solution from contact with the wood, thereby causing most of the solvent in the wood to flash off. The process is preferably run in essentially continuous manner by operating three or more interconnected treating chambers simultaneously in offset cycle sequence using a common source of boiling treating solution under moderate superatmospheric pressure.
